Remembering Sheila and Penny

We'd like to pay tribute to two wonderful ladies, Sheila Peacock and Penny Stansil, each wonderful supporters of Yala Fund over the past few years.

Sheila was born in Ceylon and grew up on a rubber plantation in the 1920s and 1930s before settling in England. Well into her 80s, Sheila read about Yala in The Times and got in touch, saying that at last she had found a small, personal charity helping the land of her birth. Before her death on 5th August, Sheila asked her son and daughter to make one last donation to Yala on her behalf, and we will be seeking out a cause that would give her pleasure.

Penny, who had been battling cancer, has been donating to Yala every month for more than 5 years. She was one of our earliest supporters and her money has been helping a number of children, in particular a little girl, Sashini, who requires monthly blood transfusions. We will never forget Penny's kindness and compassion in helping with our work in Sri Lanka.

We give thanks for the lives of these two beautiful ladies and send our best wishes and condolences to their families.
